I Love the Smell of Burning Rubber in The Morning

It smells like...........

Victory.

Yeah, you all know I'm a gearhead, and what's more I know I am not alone. Today, I read that the show Alcatraz (never seen) had an homage to the best chase scene ever, which, of course had  Steve McQueen as Bullitt driving in the movie of the same name (YouTube link, clip nearly eleven minutes long).

This chase scene isn't nearly as long, but you can definitely see the scene setups are copied from the original. The way the driver of the Charger cuts people off cornering, hoping to use them as a blocker, the appearance of the green VW a couple times, catching a bit of air on the hills and so on. While it wasn't nearly as long or cover more of a variety of San Francisco streets and the neighboring countryside, it was still pretty cool.

You know, hammering on cars and making tire smoke, listening to the engines sing their song - why that's better than I Can't Drive 55 to get the ol' blood flowing.

And did you notice what pulled up behind her as she was laying on the pavement?
A green 1968 Mustang!

No, I missed that. I watched the chase scene on the Alcatraz website, and they showed her pulling the guy out of the Charger, then it blew up. The scene with her lying on the ground shot wasn't in that clip - I figured they were identical when I found this one on YouTube. The vid I watched was not available for embedding.

The only clip I see it in is the one you have linked in the post.
It's VERY brief, and happens just before it goes to black.

Go here, click on the "SEE IT AGAIN" video link, and the clip I saw first will popup. You'll see right away that the ending is different than the one from YouTube. I kinda have a bad habit of seeing vids that people email me, and look them up on YouTube to post on the blog, and only watch part of them to insure that is the same one. This time I was caught out......
