How to Cook a Deere

I got these pictures in an email today, and as usual a backstory is lacking. Oh well, the photos are impressive on their own. As far as I know, that is about $120K going up in smoke without the cost of the header platform.

Notice how the unloading auger is starting to sag from the heat. This picture is obviously doctored, because Rosie tells us fire cannot melt steel.

Thanks to local stunt pilot Dave for sending this to me!

Regular fire cannot melt steel, but since the side panels of these machines are plastic and fiberglass they burn like a barn afire. Even the fuel tank is plastic, so a small fire melts the 120 gallon Diesel tank. At that point, invite the neighbor's kids over with their marshmallows and sticks.

I have a buddy who has the same model combine and he HATES it. His comment when I sent this to him was "Some people have all the luck!"

Then he said you can tell that's not my machine because instead of a fire extinguisher sitting behind it you would have seen a lawn chair and cooler full of beer.

All The Best,
