I Just Drive In Circles

That's right - I just drive in big circles. Only my circles are longer than 1.5 miles, and I drive far slower than the vehicles inside. This should be easy - lately I've been through the town where this structure resides frequently. This is also why picking out landmarks might get kinda slim - we're pretty fixed in our routes.

Jeez, I'm trying to decipher your clues as I'm assuming this is a "Where am I" post. Hmmm. Circles. Someplace with crop circles? NO, I'm completely stumped.

OMG, circles. Would that be some sort of beer factory. Like "you take a ring, and then another ring, and then another ring, and then you've got three rings Ballantine. It's a premium, it's a very special kind of beer." Now that in itself is scary that I know that whole jingle.

Except I though Ballentine was in New Jersey.

No, no. It's a car factory. And I'm completely stumped. Give up. Crying Uncle.

It's the Kansas Speedway in KCKS - the track is actually "D" shaped, but everyone disses NASCAR for driving in circles....

The track is 1.5 miles long and I've sure been passing by a lot lately.

It's really amazing (to me) how much the area surrounding the track has filled in with businesses since the France family built it. IIRC, Cabela's committed before the track was built - putting in a store in an area with basically nothing. Now there is a high end mall and several large outlet stores, plus a casino is being constructed.

We go by there when we get on I70 west of Topeka. I70 becomes part of the Kansas Turnpike from Topeka to Kansas City - and we're too large for their size restrictions. So, we get off at Topeka and travel along US24/40 until we get to I435 in KC - and back on the interstate system. The track is at the intersection of I70 and I435.

When we're coming home and "legal" - we can take the turnpike, and we do just that very thing to save time and miles. Outbound - not much choice in the matter.

I'll be going by the track again on Monday - two of us are headed to a town north of Lansing MI. This will be the fifth or sixth time I've gone there this year so far. We'll run I70 to Indy then north on I69 to Lansing. Most of the "Where am I" stuff has been along that route.

Thanks for playing - you're a trooper!
